Maned wolves are often compared to red foxes due to their red coat and mane at the back. However, they are much larger, standing at 3 feet tall. Maned wolves have been protected for over 30 years from the risks of falling under extinction. Although these wolves don’t have natural predators, they need open spaces in order to survive, and with the expansion of cities, deforestation, and so on, we pose a threat to them by destroying their habitat.
Fun fact: Did you know people kill these wolves believing their body parts are magical?
